The Ghost Tour

The WIS (Wisconsin In Scotland) Program is the best ever! They are always ready with some cool trip or activity for us to do. They put in a lot of hard work! So one of the fun things we did last week was to go on a hunted ghost tour of Edinburgh. There were 2 guides: Alan and Issie. I was in Alan's group. Alan, who is a stand up comedian, was great. He told us all sorts of gruesome tales and told us all about the evil fairies, some of whom will eat you from the inside out! We started out at an abandoned church called the Tron, went to various places where people had died tragically, witches were burned at the stake, suicides, and of course a spooooky grave yard, said to have the most haunted spot in all the country. Yea! Plus it was dark, raining, windy, and (for everyone else at least) very cold. I had a blast!

This the spooky abandoned church that we started off the tour at.
Alan (standing in front of the church doors with the long hair) is telling us some good ways of surviving the tour so we don't become one of the ghosts on it! =)

This is Angus. He is Patty's (the WIS program director) dog.

Look at that motley group! Everyone was freezing!!! (I was loving it in my tee shirt and capris!)

This stop on the tour was on North Bridge by Waverly Station. You can hear bagpipes in the background through the wind. Alan is telling us how people used to jump off the bridge to commit suicide. Also how the first person to cross North Bridge when it was first built was a little old lady and she died as she was crossing it. Her family got the permission to take her across the bridge on the way to bury her. So the first person to cross the bridge was dead and in her coffin.

  1. In the group picture infront of Starbucks, I am not seeing you, but the guy in the far left in the back reminds me of Freddie Krugers ghost all dressed in white face

  2. I'm not in the picture because I'm taking the picture (I take after my Mother =)! The "guy" is a woman named Marilyn. She is really nice. She is one of the host mothers for the students. It was starting to get fairly dark.
