A Wee Bit Of Home!

Last week we had the pleasure of having faculty from some of the UW campuses come for a site visit. Some of us were more lucky than others! There are 4 of us from the UW Baraboo/Sauk County campus (better known as BooU). Our dean Tom Pleger, assistant dean Matt Jurvelin, and director of continuing education Cindy McVenes were some of those who came to visit! It was like having family here to visit. We had a good time with them. Tom was a student here 20 years ago, so it was really interesting to hear about how things were "back in the day" when he was here. They still used coal for heat when he was here. Tom said that when you walked around Edinburgh you could taste it in the air. So that has changed quite a bit because now the air is very clean. It was fun getting to know people from the other campuses also and it is good for them to see the program first hand.

The BooU gang! We are in the Great Hall on the Marble Staircase (entirely made out of marble) next to Welly (Duke Wellington-- big hero of the Battle of Waterloo). The floor is the original marble. The house is full of marble (ie: the enormous column!).
Left to Right: Tom is in the red and he is holding the Scotland flag with Rachel. Next to her is Chelsie who is holding the UW banner. I am holding the BooU pennant. Behind Tom and Rachel is Matt. Then Cindy. And last Steve, who by the way, has the same birthday as me so we are going to have a great big birthday party in the Highlands!

This is on the front step in front of the house. It was a grand Scottish morning!

  1. I am trying to get more of me but it is hard when you go out by yourself a lot. I went somewhere today with a couple of girls and I got lots of pictures of me. I will try to get that all posted in the next couple of days.
